A Passing Threat

| The
Miracle Maker and the Passing Threat of Storm Cumulonimbus Mamma clouds are low to middle clouds that occasionally follow severe weather. Though some believe them to be a forewarning of tornadic activity, this type of cloud does not form tornadoes as often thought. Cumulonimbus Mamma clouds are, however, associated with severe wind squalls, hail, heavy precipitation, and thunderstorms, such as the one that passed through Stead Airport in September, 1999. Here,on a dark afternoon, in an ironic combination of aircraft name and weather backdrop, where Cumulonimbus Mamma are seen in the background during a summer electrical storm ~ complete with high winds, dust storms and rain, that blasted the ramp at Stead Airport ~ Ike and Liz Enns' North American P-51D Mustang, the Miracle Maker, Race 50, sits out a squall as it passes over the Nevada Desert event site north of Reno, Nevada. |
