Water Works Scandal

New! --

A Special Editorial Message to Mike Houghton, President and CEO of RARA...

...from the Editor of Silver State News.

Dear Mikey H:

This is to acknowledge receipt of that message you sent through a friend of mine indicating that I was to "stay out of the RARA hangar," otherwise I would be considered "trespassing."

The Official position of Silver State News Service and its Editor (Me) is that you are a "for the public benefit, non-profit corporation," registered as such under the Laws of the State of Nevada, and therefore, are a public-access repository for information of your financial and professional dealings as contained in records you currently hold in your offices in said hangar.

The Public must access those records and therefore, must enter the hangar to have Lawful access to said records. If you do not want me to access your hangar, you must move the records to another location where Public access is possible. Otherwise, when the hangar shakes, that's my 350-pound ass coming up the stairs to see your records. For future reference, get used to it.

I dissent with your indication that I would be considered by Law, a "trespasser," and will visit "your" hangar/public repository at Reno-Stead in the very near future, to access those very Public records as part of the investigation Silver State News Service and its Editor (Me) are performing on your corrupt organization. SSNS will begin with the IRS documentation. You know the Laws and fines associated with refusal of access to public records involving non-profit Corporations.

Further, since my only conduct towards you has been First Amendment protected acts of Freedom of Speech and Press, I'd say your way out of line for attempting to manipulate words of Law to make a criminal out of me (i.e., "Trespasser").

Remember -- I'm not the one who brought thugs to the party. I'm not the one facing Civil Complaints and Criminal Charges, some already filed, others that will be filed in the near future, in regards to actual acts of Civil and Criminal misconduct. I'm not AAWC. I'm not RARA.

In other words, even considering the butt-ugly, nasty-assed mood I'm in, I'm Ghandi compared to your bunch! And in my defense, it's never too late -- I can always join a Buddhist Monastery and go on a diet! <G> Since the Feds are already investigating these matters, it might be just a tad too late for you.

I strongly recommend you cease and desist with having my friends deliver your threats. I strongly recommend that if you have anything to say, you send it to me in writing or have your Attorneys address it to me.

Either way, be a man. Commit yourself to the record. Your organization has my e-mail, my address and even my phone number.

Now, in regards to a second matter, your slander that I am "going after your wife" -- I have a heads up for you "buuuuuddddiiiieee..."

Up until one week ago, I didn't even know you had a wife. I won't comment further as to "why."

FYI: I came across a document involving a private company called "Artesana" and your name was on it. Likewise, a Google search of the internet shows you standing before meetings of the City of Reno in regards to improvement projects involving "Plumgate" (how appropriate in such an ongoing series of scandals that there would be at least one name with the word "gate" on the end...) and your support of said projects while personally "representing Artesana."

I did note where I believe there was a "Brooke Houghton" listed on said document. That document did not indicate "wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, daughter, mistress, sister, Siamese twin, Queen of England, adopted, fictitious name, nom de plume, alias, Angel in Heaven, Demon From Hell, Future Ex-wife (See "Demon From Hell"), etc., etc., etc."

Since I've never heard of this individual, and I have no knowledge of their involvement in this Scandal, why would I bother to investigate "her" personally unless someone started throwing obstacles between her and my investigation -- when I'm not investigating that company at this time and are only concerned with your money trail?

Needless to say, SSNS will now investigate "Artesana" because "slander" and "defamation of character" are two of the most common obstacles thrown in between select individuals and pending Journalistic investigations.

Damn, I wish people would check with me first before making these wild accusations! Just the same, thanks for the "heads up" about the concern you have in regards to "Artesana." (Theme from the movie Jaws begins playing in the background, slowly building to crescendo!)

For the record, if anyone is going to bring disgrace down on your "wife," I would suggest that it is not going to be some Editor of some podunk, online Newspaper, that sure as hell doesn't have the "New York Times" as its title. Rather, I would suggest in fact, it would be you, via your misconduct and involvement with others at AAWC and RARA in an alleged (Public Record) "Conspiracy."

If you want to place the finger of blame somewhere in advance of an action that you think is pending against "your wife," go home and place it on your mirror.

I am described as a "litigious" individual. No less than two Judges have described me as such. Attorneys love me. They buy very nice things with my money. Because of guys like me, Attorneys have made William P. Lear Sr. and the Learjet historic names in Executive Aviation!

One of my cases even made it before the United States Supreme Court. Or perhaps, "out back" of the United States Supreme Court, depending on where it is that they keep the dumpster (!) at the United States Supreme Court. <G>

Consult with your own Attorneys prior to doing anything in my regards, i.e., thugs, slander, libel, attempts at threats and intimidation, physical violence, attempted murder, etc. You're paying all sorts of money for counsel...why not use it before you really screw up!?

I know those money-mongering Attorneys at Woodburn & Wedge, along with Jones Vargas, are incredibly expensive, but "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." Consult with them, let them use their tactics of trickery and deceit to write me the letter you should send. There's nothing like "Points and Authorities" to boggle a Bear's "simple" mind! <G> That, and those little numbers they place along the left hand border of a Court document page...they're always the same on every page. They never go up in number after you turn the page!

Also, if you have anything to say about or in rebuttal to my reporting on these growing issues of concern, again, you have my e-mail...we'll be more than happy to post it here and provide, as necessary, rebuttal. SSNS is posting this here because of the AAWC/RARA practice of dodging interviews and not returning phoned inquiries. As for e-mail, not as good as a taped interview...

My advice to you (as an observer...) is that you and your organization change your ways and stop maltreating others, particularly the racers and their Teams, but mainly the racers. The money RARA offers may seem like a lot, but no way does it equate to the infinite value of one pilot nor the finite (aka Priceless, may as well read "infinite") monetary or historical value of his/her aircraft, nor the personal investment of himself and volunteers on his/her Team in regards to that aircraft.

If you honestly can't pay them their worth, they're okay with that -- I know that for a fact. However, you'd better treat them as Professionals and not employees. They're getting to the point that they're damned tired of the abuse, politics, Good Ol' Boyz, Air Race Nazis and long-winded diatribes by Editors of podunk online Newspapers not entitled the "New York Times," which are made -- of all things -- in their best interests!

Not to mention, long, run-on sentences! <G>

Even if you can't pay them their worth at this time, if you eliminate the maltreatment, they will be there for you without fail -- always to be on your beck and call.

For example, you can send forty guys to take turns insulting and embarrassing a pilot who has crossed the line of "coolness" with you, but if you're smart, in the future, you'd keep it quiet and send one diplomat to straighten matters out between the two of your organizations and obtain clarification and correction of the issues between you and that pilot. You can't tell me that you don't have a diplomat on your Team...not while a guy like General Clayton Gadd with his stellar Public Service record is on your Board.

If their (the Professional Air Racers') conduct doesn't please you, you can't ban them for Life from the races in the first place, and then bring them back two years later with "all is forgiven, as long as you tow the line). How ludicrous to ban them in the first place, then how doubly ludicrous you look bringing them back two years later! Even have your arms around them at the NAG banquet like you're long-lost friends.

Why ban a great guy in the first place!?

What a clearly obvious sign of your use of "fear and intimidation." What says more about you -- your short term conduct (i.e., arm around your new "buddy") or long-term misconduct (i.e., constant knife in the back of the Air Racer on a revolving door basis)?

You need to seriously improve things for the pilots and the crews at the "Invitational" National Championship Air Races. In fact, if you're truly "inviting" them, shouldn't you be paying "show money?" How ironic that the one man to ever be "disinvited" from the races is based at Stead, while most of the others who are invited live far away must pay their way in and pay for their travel to and from! <G>

That's just the strangest way to hint to John Parker that "If he doesn't like it here, he should move!" <G>

Yep, you'd better start treating them as "Professionals." Do otherwise, and one of these years (Reno 2004, or Las Vegas 2005 and subsequent...it doesn't matter "where" ... <G>), your going to hold an Air Race in some far off, High Desert locale, but at Opening Ceremonies, you and the crowd will be looking at an empty ramp.

Also, if you truly want the Press off your back...change your dubious ways. The AAWC, whom you represent; RARA, whom you represent; and yourself, whom you represent beyond a shadow of a doubt, need to mend fences and make amends with the Stead Tenants that you've hurt, past and present, while acting proactively to prevent future occurrences.

The AAWC and RARA aren't exactly what anyone would call: "User Friendly."

And finally, "word:" no Editor could possibly hope to mess with you if you weren't doing something wrong, let alone, illegal.

With that thought in mind, please make sure to tell "Thug" I said "Hi!" <G>

Really, Mike -- you personally, are making my job too easy!

(Long Pause, crickets chirping, frogs croaking...)

On second thought, in regards to all the above, and in the words of the great Gilda Radner:

Never mind! <G>

Go ahead and do your best "Jack Nicholson."

Sincerely,

Mark S. "Bear" Daniels
