This is a shot taken looking down the flight test ramp at Lockheed's Burbank, California, facility, which is now home to Bob Hope International Airport. Brand new Lockheed P-3C Orion and S-3A Viking ASW aircraft are featured in this photo. S-3A production ended here after development of the US-3B aircraft, and production of the Lockheed P-3 Orion was moved from Burbank, California, to the L-1011 TriStar production facility after sales of the latter ended in the 1970s.

This photo was taken from a Pacific Southwest Airlines (PSA) Boeing 727-214 Advanced trijet, while taxiing out for a flight to San Diego, California.

Paul White in his Quaker State sponsored aerobatic aircraft at the 1976 California National Air Races at Mojave, California. In the background is Race 81, Gary Levitz's "Precious Metal," which was later acquired by Don Whittington. Levitz finished second at the 1976 Mojave Air Race event. I believe that's Ralph Payne in the cockpit and Dave Zeuschel with his hand on the wing in the background. White was Ray Cote's Crew Chief on Shoestring in the 1970s. White later went on to race IF1 "Fang," Race 11, formerly owned by Berni and Jim Stevenson, and also raced a Thorp T18 at the 1979 Mojave event.
