A Pacific American Airlines Douglas DC-6B in maintenance in the airline's hangar at Hollywood-Burbank Airport (now Bob Hope International), in Burbank, California, 1977. The hangar was originally the headquarters of the Flying Tiger Line, during its start-up and operations into the 1960s. The hangar at one time served Lockheed Constellations and Canadair Cl-44s. The hangar and ramp were utilized during the filming of the movie "MacArthur," starring Gregory Peck, for the scenes in which MacArthur meets with President Truman during the Korean War, before his removal as a field commander.

After Pacific American shut down, the hangar was utilized by Steven Spielberg for the FX filming of the movie "1941," starring John Belushi, Dan Ackroyd, Treat Williams,Slim Pickens, John Candy, Nancy Allen and Robert Stack, among many, many others. The hangar has since been utilized as a Boeing 707 operation, before being converted for use by Burbank Crash Rescue.


Former Mercer Airlines Douglas DC-3 at the airline's facility at Hollywood Burbank Airport. This was one of two DC-3s operated by the airline in the mid-1970s, until both aircraft were placed up for sale in 1977. Price for both aircraft and spares combined: $50,000.00 dollars U.S.


The Vought F4U Corsair of Bob Guilford, "Blue Max," Race 93, at Reno-Stead, Nevada, in the mid-1980s. This aircraft was destroyed in a crash during an International Air Show at Brown Field, San Diego, sometime after 1979.
