An optical defect creating a light leak into the left side of the picture didn't affect this shot of Race 69, Jeannie, at the 1981 Reno National Championship Air Races too badly. Rookie Skip Holm was the pilot and went on to win his first National Championship, following Mac McClain's victory in the dame aircraft during the 1980 event. Holm became the first rookie to win a National Championship on his first time out, and was later followed by F-16 test pilot Neil Anderson, who won the National Championship during his rookie year in Air Racing.
