Two UH-1H Hueys of the U.S. Army parked at Krautheim awaiting orders to deploy in the field. They Huey was the mainstay of Army Aviation forces in the 1960s thru 1980s, before being systematically replaced by the Sikorsky UH-60A Blackhawk.

One of the local kids in the cockpit of a UH-1H Huey at our Krautheim field site. This shot was taken nearly twenty years ago, so this kid could now be an Officer or Non-commissioned Officer flying helicopters in the Bundeswehr (German Army Aviation). Duty in the Bundeswehr, Luftwaffe and/or Kriegsmarine are mandatory for Germany's modern-day citizenry.


One of the first Sikorsky UH-60A Utility Helicopters assigned to Europe with the U.S. Army.
