A Mercer Air Lines Douglas DC-6, prior to the name change to Pacific American Airlines in 1977. The aircraft is seen here at Hollywood Burbank Airport in December, 1976, featuring the colors of new airline owner, VIP Aircraft Leasing, of Kalamazoo, Michigan.


May, 1985, and the hangar at Fliegerhorst Kaserne, Memmingenberg, FRG, during the Air Show celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Kaserne and the 25th Anniversary of Jagdbombergeschwader 34 (JABOG 34), a nuclear-tipped NATO squadron operating during the Cold War at this Luftwaffe Air Base near the Black Forest. In this hangar, a Panavia Tornado on the left, and a Lockheed F-104 Starfighter on the right. The tornado eventually replaced the Starfighter in the Luftwaffe's fleet.


A Convair 880, formerly owned by Delta Air Lines, one of five acquired by Dwight Mercer, owner of Mercer Air Lines of Burbank, California. Mercer started his airline operation with a Waco Cabinplane, then grew to DouglasDC-2s, DC-3s, DC-4s and DC-6s. This photo was taken in 1977 while the five Convairs were stored at Burbank.


Economy Class aboard the Delta Convair 880, a medium ranged airliner that was outsold by the Boeing 727. Five across seating made things more comfortable for the narrow CV-880 than the six-across Boeing 727.
