Entry # 3 (I think...)

S.O.S.

"I'm alive til I'm dead..." ~ said by fellow Veteran to me when I asked him how he was doing. A horrible, angry expression on his face, as he walked and stared straight ahead without looking at me...

~~~~~~~~~~
Having a little trouble working this morning folks...expect a few more delays in publishing Docket and Pretext For Tyranny Links and Pages.
Docket scanning completed and scanning well underway for Pretext, an associated case from seventeen years ago that, believe it or not, is still an open and relevant issue, whether the FAA likes it or not...
"Form" Questions by the V.A. Office of the Inspector General in silver (this color) with my responses in white...
When I state that I am not "Head Hunting" it means that in my own opinion, no one at fault. Just a systematic problem, one of many Catch 22's that often haunt the V.A. and its best intentions, not to mention, it's mission. It's not always someone's fault, more like a glitch, an anomaly, or coming across a "wait a minute vine" (~ Mike Warnke, U.S.M.C.) out in the jungle...
"It ain't right,
it ain't wrong...
...it just is."
~ Tobey McGuire as Jake Roedel,
from the Novel/Screenplay:
"Ride With The Devil"
Another "Day in the Life..."
One week to 2008...will I make it!? Used to chase telephone poles just to make it through a ten mile run. Would line up on a telephone pole to the side of the road, and tell myself when things got tough, "Okay, you can quit and drop out at that one..."
I'd make that telephone pole, then tell myself, "All right, you're doing good...hanging in there. There's another pole just ahead. Make it to that one, and then you can quit and drop out..."
I'd repeat that procedure through ten miles of telephone poles and never drop out of a run. It's not just about conquering the pain during a run, but rather, the fear of failure.
Plus, there's always the bragging rights you have over the current generation, like the generation before you had over you and your buddies...
...we ran in our Cochran jump boots, spit shine and all!
Today, it's "Nike" or "Addidas," etc.
Heh...heh..."School Girls!"
"C-130 rolling down the strip,
Airborne daddy gonna take a little trip;
Line up, hook up, shuffle to the door,
jump right out and count to four;
if my chute don't open wide,
I'll be splattered on the countryside;
Singing: I want to be an Airborne Ranger;
Live a Life of Sex and Danger!"
Sang little diddies like this when I was 22 until age 30. Now I'm Fifty-two. My advice to the younger generations:
Don't grow old.
No. Really...
...it sucks! Listen to me!
Don't do it...don't grow old.
Okay, so be it. I teach you everything I know and still you know nothing...
...why is that!!??
Greetings:
The particular VA facility or office involved.
Reno V.A. Medical Center (Logaris?); Main V.A. Hospital in Reno.
The identity of the wrongdoer(s) and victim(s).
Prosthetics, Emergency Room, Cardio Pulmonary, V.A.M.C. Reno, V.A Washington, D.C.
Policy indicated as problem by Prosthetics representative, also by Dr. Brown in Emergency Room, not allowing them to provide me with either replacement or loaner CPAP equipment. Indicate that I must come in for sleep study. I am over 230 miles from Reno V.A. Traveled to Reno V.A. for equipment repair, replacement, or loaner equipment until I could be seen. Was refused. Was sent on wild goose chase trying to obtain equipment.
Equipment on loan should have been provided until I can be given appointment and seen by V.A. Was not allowed to be seen by Cardio Pulmonary on walk-in, Emergency basis regarding defective equipment. Health seriously threatened and is worsening as a result of refusal of care that goes back prior to my arrival in Nevada to refusals at Colorado Springs in September, 2006, thru January, 2007; Dallas V.A.M.C. in February thru October 2007; now Reno, in November and December, 2007. Equipment has not been maintained since 2005 by V.A. Westwood, Colorado Springs and Dallas. Refused service by Colorado Springs Outpatient Clinic and Dallas Cardio Pulmonary, which was in a meeting and would not see me. Never scheduled for appointment by Primary Physician at Dallas. Primary Physician changed without my knowledge at Dallas and no new appointment scheduled. New primary assigned at Dallas; maltreated by that doctor and I subsequently left that facility due to Federal case transfer of litigation from Dallas to Nevada.
Equipment originally issued by Westwood V.A. @ two years ago (2005) Was maintained twice by Westwood, but Westwood did not follow through with annual check of equipment and did not respond to my requests prior to my leaving for Colorado. Sepulveda V.A. likewise did not respond, other than to tell me to contact Westwood V.A.
Westwood did sleep study at that time.
Reno V.A. indicates my sleep study was nine years old and that they could not issue new equipment or loaner equipment without new sleep study. Primary information came from Prosthetics. Attempted to obtain care through Emergency Room. Physician Brown indicated same as representative in Prosthetics (Last name: Frankl? Have business card but will have to follow up for name).
Pointed out that I had sleep study at Westwood. Prosthetics acknowledged but said that Policy was the issue. "Sorry, can't help you."
I am 100% Service-connected Disabled Veteran. Both sleep studies at Reno and Westwood were diagnosed as "severe" following seven years of constant neglect of issue by V.A. at Westwood, Sepulveda, Long Beach and elsewhere, and which I brought up repeatedly and I physically saw in my own medical records and were confirmed by various V.A. medical physicians over time, to be contained in my medical records as notes.
End result was pooling of blood in lower extremities, blood clotting, mild stroke in 1998, until seen by Dr. Krumpe, Cardio Pulmonary, Reno V.A.M.C. in late 1990s, early 2000. Developed Pulmonary Embolism at about same time in February, 2000. Sleep study done and Dr. Krumpe indicated it was one of the worst cases of Obstructed Sleep Apnea seen by the Reno V.A.M.C. in years.
Settings on machine had to be adjusted to 16.0, the maximum allowed by machines at that time. That initial machine broke down and was replaced by Westwood V.A. following sleep study there. The rest is history.
Currently suffering heart arythmia, chest pains, lack of oxygen, lack of sleep, interupted sleep, suffocation.
Refusal of equipment, even on loan, endangering my life. Have been trying to get through until appointment can be scheduled. Was given wild goose chase at Reno V.A.M.C. trying to obtain appointment, medication, Emergency Room treatment and Warfarin clinic check in. Got re-enrolled in Sierra Health Care system with V.A., but that was all. Travel was closed and expense of trip, which involved over eight hours round trip driving and mileage just in excess of 454 miles, all done at my expense. My mother had to drive with me in the event I became ill. Had been to Emergency Room at non-V.A. facility just two nights before with chest pains and arythmia. Stablized there and returned home. Attempted same night travel to Reno to be seen, but stopped by chain requirements in Sierras. Followed through next day only to be refused this life sustaining medical equipment.
Chest pain moderate to severe due to aching caused by suffocating affect induced by CPAP machine not producing enough air.
This is NOT a head-hunting complaint. Both prosthetics and Emergency Room reps indicate that a V.A. Policy is blocking them from providing the equipment. Request that I.G. inspect Reno V.A., Prosthetics and Emergency Room Doctor, determine what the policy is, and end that policy immediately. Vital Care standing by to provide loaner equipment but their hands tied by this policy as well. They were told by Cardio Pulmonary that I would have to be seen to obtain loaner. Appeared in Reno after four hour drive for that purpose, Cardio Pulmonary would not see me. Sent me to Prosthetics. Refused by Prosthetics, attempted to obtain through Emergency Room, refused by Emergency Room.
Suffering greatly at this time. Currently have multiple life threatening medical conditions, including Pulmonary Embolism, Severe Obstructed Sleep Apnea, Anuerysm of the Thoracic Aorta, Congestive Heart Failure, Arythmia and Diabetes, among other conditions, that are being severely aggravated by this issue.
Other option should have been to hospitalize me immediately, put me on CPAP in hospital and conduct sleep study immediately. Living in rural area and just moved here in November following hospitalization in Las Vegas. Spent November recuperating...now ill again because of CPAP failure and the interference of this policy.
Reno V.A.M.C. personnel clearly lacking initiative and flexibility to identify and solve problems. This is contrary to the training given the military and former military personnel (soldiers, sailors, airmen, coast guardsmen, marines, others and veterans, disabled veterans) during their military service. Problem solving apparently not allowed and tight control of V.A. personnel at Reno apparently prohibiting them from helping veterans.
Looks like a Red Tape SNAFU...they wanted to help but were specifically prohibited. Makes no sense, especially in these times when media scrutiny is on V.A. for denial of benefits and medical care to soldiers et al returning from Middle East; existing Veterans ranks, not to mention, history of neglect cited by Veterans/Veterans Groups/Media over time, to include historic references back to the march on Washington D.C., eventually broken up by General MacArthur with resulting deaths to Veterans above and beyond injuries incurred after Veterans attacked by the military they had served in WWI.
The alleged legal or policy violation(s) or other misconduct.
Denial of service/repair/replacement/loner CPAP machine needed for breathing. Machine was tested by civilian Vital Care representative from Fallon, Nevada. Machine is breaking down and is not functioning correctly. Machine indicates putting out levels of air for breathing while sleeping and during the day when necessesary at 16.0. Test of machine showed that CPAP was only putting out at levels of 11.0. This is causing my heart arythmia to act up.
I am 100% service connected and entitled to these benefits, but refused benefits and life endangered as a result. Health declining rapidly. The greater policy is being violated that at 100%, Permanent & Total, I am entitled to treatment, Emergency treatment, hospitalization, the equipment, etc. "Sorry, I can't help you..." because of a lessor policy interfering with the issue of permanent or loaner CPAP is undermining and causing a serious violation of the greater policy involving lawful entitlement to medical care, treatment, equipment and benefits, not to mention, moral support, actual support and preventive care that will save my life, not endanger it like neglect will.
The effect of the wrongdoing, such as dollars lost, delay produced, etc.
A 454+ mile wasted trip, life endangered, breathing endangered, other medical conditions worsening, non-payment of travel, non-secheduling of follow up medical appointment and sleep study to date, finances undermined after long, costly trip from Dallas through Las Vegas, over one to two month delay in getting appointment so suffering during same period of time, physical dehibilitation as a result of condition, threatened by stroke, blood clotting and heart arythmia, Congestive Heart Failure aggravated, Thoracic Aorta anuerysm placed under strain (could burst, then three hours to get to doctor...would have to travel to Bishop or Tonopah, 90 miles away, be Air Evac'd, costing the Government thousands of dollars in unnecessary travel expenses, then cost of medical care that could be avoided by smart policy that immediately treats dangerous circumstance, then allows for sensible solution to problem, i.e., scheduling of appointments to meet V.A.'s need without denying 100% service-connected disabled veteran his entitlement, nor endangering his life during time in which V.A. is under fire for neglecting its veterans and patients, further causing Public Relations nightmare, Public outrage and further negative scrutiny by media.
Vital Care indicates on top of everything, that it has loaner equipment available, but Reno V.A.M.C. told him he could not provide equipment to me without my being seen. Was refused by Cardio Pulmonary which further "acknowledged in the negative" ("Advance to the Rear?") that it "had not seen me" despite my visit there. Woman in charge of that clinic did not identify herself and was assisting other patients. Made no attempt to schedule visit, sleep study, etc. I was told by all that I would have to re-schedule. Scheduling had closed by the time all were through with me, as had Travel. Expenses were out of pocket. One Gold Team member attempted to assist me; have not heard back as to whether or not she was successful. Was given phone number for scheduling however, storm has caused havoc to telephone communications here in rural Nevada. V.A. closed for regular business after storm passed through and Holidays underway, causing further delays.
The date(s) when the event(s) occurred.
November to December, 2007 (Reno)
Specific visit approximately December 12th, 2007, following Emergency Room visit on @ December 11, 2007.
September to October (Colorado Springs and Dallas)
2005 to September, 2006 (Westwood V.A.)
The identity of any witness(es) to the event(s).
Joan C. Serfoss, Mother, beyond medical personnel on site at Reno V.A. Mark at Vital Care in Fallon, Nevada.
Copies of relevant documents that support the allegation.
Medical Records Online under SSN: (Deleted for Privacy), also "Daniels (SSN Last Four ~ Deleted for Privacy)," some duplicates here with me, but online will grant you quicker access to all. Mother also witness to neglect at Colorado Springs Outpatient Clinic and maltreatment by doctor there. Was present but not in with doctor "Osimeri" when maltreated by her at Dallas V.A.
Whether anyone else has already reviewed the allegation.
No. V.A.M.C. at Reno closed before I could reach Patient Advocate...had to travel home and Christmas holidays have interfered with ability to contact V.A.; storm passing through recently has affected phone communications. E-mail at Reno V.A. unknown. Will be searching for Patient Advocate e-mail later today and if found, will forward copy of this to them.
An address and telephone number of a named complainant and whether the complainant wishes confidentiality.
Confidentiality NOT required. This is not a head-hunting complaint. This is an issue of bad policy and assisting those who wanted to help me by having I.G. inspect and rectify bad policy, allowing/freeing those in Prosthetics and Emergency Room to assist, even if it means mere assignment of loaner equipment until such time as patient can be seen under less duress and/or stressful circumstances. Alleviates strain on health and reduces to nil immediate danger to life and issue of endangerment of Veteran by V.A. and its assets/resources.
Immediate help requested please...
A Day in the Life
I read the news today oh boy
About a lucky man who made the grade
And though the news was rather sad
Well I just had to laugh
I saw the photograph
He blew his mind out in a car
He didn't notice that the lights had changed
A crowd of people stood and stared
They'd seen his face before
Nobody was really sure
If he was from the House of Lords.
I saw a film today oh boy
The English Army had just won the war
A crowd of people turned away
but I just had to look
Having read the book
I'd love to turn you on
Woke up, fell out of bed,
Dragged a comb across my head
Found my way downstairs and drank a cup,
And looking up I noticed I was late.
Found my coat and grabbed my hat
Made the bus in seconds flat
Found my way upstairs and had a smoke,
and Somebody spoke and I went into a dream
I read the news today oh boy
Four thousand holes in Blackburn, Lancashire
And though the holes were rather small
They had to count them all
Now they know how many holes it takes to fill the Albert Hall.
I'd love to turn you on
I Finally Found a use for Spam!
Somebody needs to take away this boy's Hoodia!
And SOON!
335 (Three-Hundred Thirty-Five) Messages in my Junk Mail Folder this morning, so I'm sitting here wondering:
I wonder if I could develop a "Twelve Days of Christmas List" from my Spam e-mails?
One hour later...I'm still a "Geek" with waaaaayyyyyyy too much time on his hands!
...and 335 e-mail messages are about to end their one hour reprieve from my "Empty Bulk Folder" execution device, as prepared for me by Dr. Jack Kevorkian, noted Humanitarian, Philanthropist and Inventor, who really belongs on the Board of Directors at the Reno Air Racing Association (RARA ~ Rhymes with "HA HA!") giving them an "assist."
Unfortunately, that device as developed by our collective, dark, sinister minds ~ while playing Dungeons and Dragons using real life pawns ~ is a whole Blog entry unto itself, therefore, "mañana," if you get my drift!
Apologies to anyone who may have tripped over this idea before me...and also, to those who may not understand the symbols I inserted for Trademark (tm) and the squiglly little line above the first "n" in "mañana" because someone at Microsoft keeps CHANGING MY FONT AUTOMATICALLY from "Papyrus" back to "TIMES NEW ROMAN WITHOUT MY APPROVAL OR CONSENT AND SANS A COURT ORDER ALLOWING THEM TO DO SO...
...however, I digress.
This version of "The Twelve Days of Christmas" is based mostly on what I found in my e-mail box this morning, sans the "Rip Roaring Virus" at the end (found those previously) and the "Ten Tons of Hoodia," which I also found previously and, I might add, is thoroughly wonderful if it's "ingestion" involves the use of a Water Bong!
WHO KNEW!!??
<Sound of DEEP INHALE>
...anyhow, I digress...
...again!
So here it is, one hour in the life of a Bearz (pronounced "Bears," only with a "Z" at the end...awarded me either in regards to my propensity for sleeping or for that strange sound I keep hearing each time I reach for the honey...), probably the finest hour ever spent in this Bearz' (pronounced "Bearz-is," as in "Pluralz") entire life and I sure hope I still feel that way once the effects of the Hoodia have worn off.
Funny, just the same...
...I thought this stuff was supposed to help you lose weight!
Why am I craving a bag of F~king Cheetos at this moment!?
And why are they red and green!!?? Christmas!!??
No...
...Expiration Date! :>(
Awwww, who cares! :>)
What was I saying!!?? Oh, never mind!
Here it is...all that is my Christmas Spirit ~ as lived inbetween (Sound of second DEEP INHALE!!!) "Commercials:"
Roadtrip Reno
Celestial Delights, Scenic Nevada, a Return to the Biggest Little City In The World after a three-year hiatus, What's Wrong with the V.A. and the Need for a Voters' Revolt...
...Talk, Talk, Talk, Talk, Talk!
by Mark S. "Bear" Daniels
Publisher, ILIPS Group International
An amazing few days here in Nevada following the move of four out of five storages into our new digs here in Dyer, Nevada.
Wound up in the hospital again for a few hours after another episode with rapid, irregular heartbeat. The heart was skipping two beats at a time then fluctuating inbetween missed beats. That'll definitely take your breath away! <g>
The latest issue woke me up out of an already disturbed sleep necessitating the drive to Northern Inyo Hospital in Bishop, California. Thirty minutes into the drive there ~ and after roughly fifteen nitro glycerin tablets ~ got the heart rate and beat under control and haven't had but two fluctuations since. The heart, however, is weak, beats weak and leaves me weak, but oh well...
...I'm still here. And I'm still working.
The docs are concerned about my present location being so far from medical help however, don't have much choice due to the case that's ramping up for what looks like a February start in Federal Court, currently set for Reno, Nevada, though a major attempt will be made shortly to change the venue to either the Federal Court in Las Vegas, Nevada, or the Federal Court in Los Angeles, California, both of which fall under the Ninth Circuit, as does Reno.
Major corruption is the issue necessitating the change of venue ~ venue being "where the case is held and heard; the physical location of the Court and hearing" ~ as the State Senate Rapist Majority Leader of Nevada, one State Senator William Raggio, has his hands ~ if not other bodily parts ~ into everything.
Amazing that years of protocol within the Federal Court system can be bypassed by a phone call. Never mind that the main intake unit for Federal cases to be heard in Nevada, in actuality, is in, Las Vegas, not Reno!
"Go ahead and send the case here..." is the quote given to me by a "Dallas In Pro Se Section" ~ the call coming from some mystery person in Reno. After telling me the case would be in Las Vegas and forcing my move there, the idiots in Dallas then tell me after my arrival ~ and after I have to inform them to transmit the case to Las Vegas, per the Federal Court Clerk there; and after they know I'm in Las Vegas per the Dallas Magistrate Judge's Secretary's instructions ~ do they THEN transmit the case to Reno, causing further hardship on top of that already caused by the highly questionable conduct of the Dallas Magistrate Judge.
Dallas Federal will subsequently pay for their corruption and collusion in this matter. I will not sit back and take this crap. The Federal government is already a co-conspirator in the larger RICO case, and now becomes a co-conspirator in this smaller, RICO, Libel, Slander and Civil Rights issue, involving the "Reno Air Racing Association et al" and its "behind the scenes" conspiracy to destroy my credibility.
An incredibly stupid act in itself committed by Mike Houghton, Valerie Enos, Tom Gribbin, Wayne Sagar and James Richard Campbell, not to mention the RARA and the Airport Authority of Washoe County, all aided and abetted by their mutual Law Firm, Raggio's "Jones Vargas" Law Firm, which also represents RARF and others associated with the networked conspirators.
Damn! All this time, I thought I was doing a good enough job of that all by myself! <ggg>
Return to Reno...
I was in Reno today to check in with the Federal court, see what was happening, to include the suspense date as to the decision allowing me to proceed In Pro Se, In Forma Pauperis, pick up a copy of the docket ~ along with the case file ~ and as those copies are currently Public Record, we will publish those documents here shortly...
...likely before the end of the weekend. We will also be presenting the Aviation Nation 2007 Air Show materials gathered in mid-November, during the Friday Press conference and the Sunday show. So, we "ramp up" on three fronts at this time, including 1) The Federal Case, 2) upgrading Aviation & Marine's home page to a new "Directory" format, which will seek to create a publication more "Worldly" for our readers, and 3) create that same "Worldly" format in the Directories of our State News Services, starting with our State News flagship, Silver State News, to give our State News readers publications that are more Worldly in outreach while still established and formatted for local news that reaches right into what "Mom and Pop" are doing on the farm these days.
Celestial Displays...
Returning home from the hospital in Bishop the other night, an awesome sight as the Geminid meteor showers are currently underway and expected to peak tonight, December 12-13th. Sunrise was approaching as I was driving home from Bishop when a meteorite entered the atmosphere in the skies just in front of me while driving in from Highway 6 into the Fishlake Valley. The Geminids, which are known for their showy "fireballs," produced one in the pinkish blue haze of dawn, showering sparks overhead, which drifted down towards the ground thereafter like glitter, lasting for a good ten to fifteen seconds before dissapating in the sky.
I've frozen the image in my memory. When I leave this Earth, that's one sight I will take with me for all time...
Nothing like a meteor shower in the high desert, except at present for the new comet approaching/passing Earth, the Comet 17P or "Comet Holmes," which recently put on a spectacular display and for a short time, was the largest object in the galaxy ~ essentially exploding or coming apart ~ then casting a blue aura around the nucleus that was visible to the naked eye here in the Fishlake Valley, a vast area of land essentially devoid of light in contrast to a major city like San Francisco, Las Vegas or Los Angeles.
This follows the Comet McNaught of January, 2007, referred to as the "Great Comet of 2007" since it was considered one of the brightest comets to pass through our solar system since 1935, and was even visible in daylight.
Comet Holmes was viewable tonight during the return from Reno as I passed Walker Lake into Hawthorne, all the way down Highway 95, to the Highway 6 cutoff leading into the Fishlake Valley, Nevada, and Benton and Bishop, California areas, near Highway 395.
The comet was pulsing a series of alternating colors featuring white, green and blue flashes, all-in-all, presenting a rather spectacular, gem-like appearance against the night sky. The comet seems to rise for viewing in the southeast and continues to ascend amidst a night sky filled with stars, a myriad of constellations and that ever present, visible-to-the-naked-eye, "Milky Way," an enumerable Sea of Stars which seems to stretch like an ocean in the night sky from one end of the desert horizon to the other, and amazingly, in all four directions.
The night sky light show here is to die for...figuratively speaking, of course! <g> Heart issues not with standing! <ggg> The Fishlake Valley and rural Nevada are among the places you want to be if you're a Star Gazer, an Astronomer or one that likes to view and photograph the heavens for that sense of "how small you are" and "how Great God is" on a nightly basis while you live and exist in the World, the Galaxy, the Universe and that which lies beyond.
Cotton Candy Clouds Over The Nevada Desert...
The drive to Reno yesterday morning eclipsed what I watched tonight, which included additional shooting stars that are part of the peaking of that previously mentioned Geminid show between tonight and tomorrow. Sunrise was behind the surrounding mountains of the Fishlake Valley ~ whose names I have yet to learn ~ and ultimately created cotton candy-colored pink and orange clouds out of the blue grey mist that existed over the Fishlake Valley ~ turning them into an airey "filter" that cast a pink-orange tint against the White Mountains to the West, mixing with patches of blue-grey rock and shadow where the snow failed to cover the granite surfaces or the light failed to reach those canyons and crevasses where the snows sat awaiting illumination that would not come until mid afternoon.
Likewise, travelling via Highway 95 as it leads away from Tonopah and Coaldale, amidst the vast desert on an upward track toward Reno, additional, broken cloud formations that followed the Nevada sunrise of December 12th, 2007, presented the mountains above Walker Lake to me, with a band of shadow at and just below the peak, along with another band of shadow at the base of the mountains, the two grey areas divided horizontally by a band of hazy, sunlit snow in the center, that reminded this photographer of the works captured by Ansel Adams, who mastered photography in the Sierras in such a manner that he still mentors many of us involved in scenic photography in the two decades-plus that have now followed his death.
I might also mention the work of Galen Rowell, of the Mountain Light Gallery, still on the corner of Highway 395 and West Line Street, in Bishop, California. There are a vast, variety of incredible works within the Mountain Light Gallery that Rowell created with his cameras that ~ personally speaking ~ I never thought possible due to man's limited time on this Earth, and his inability to be in two places at one time.
Rowell's life proved to be limited. He died on August 11, 2002, at a young age with his wife Barbara, in a tragic plane crash near Bishop Airport, and yet, he left this enormous treasury of still photography and artistic contributions in film that I think made him Adams' equal when it came to the absolute contrast of their collective works ~ Rowell's color vs Adams black and white ~ but likewise, Adams' superior when one considers the extreme variety and number of works, in terms of location around the globe (i.e., from the Sierras to Argentina to far away Tibet), quality and subject matter.
To these men, Rowell and Adams, light and shadow were everything. Adams work is timeless, as Rowell's will eventually prove to be, but Rowell's work in particular, is just dripping with the quality of its colorful character, off the walls of the Mountain Light Gallery in tiny Bishop, California, and likely will be for the next Century.
I say this as I cannot see that Gallery or the new artists that are presented there, going anywhere soon, other than into time and history, and not ironically, into the light and shadow of an old photograph yet to be taken, a number of years away from the times we are presently living, capturing a hundred thousand moments in time signifying Rowell's lifetime contribution to photography and the "Mountain Light" effect itself, that Adams captured so well all his life.
Light and Shadow on the Desert...
No camera with me yesterday as I travelled. Certain images I keep indelibly marked on my memory for my spirit to take with me when I fly on that day of my "Great Getin' Up Mornin'"
Old mining camps were spread out before me, preserved in their stained, wooden antiquity, from tiny Coaldale in the South, near Tonopah, to Walker Lake and Yerrington, in the North, the latter off of Alternate Highway 95, leading to Fernley.
The development of housing and business tracts near Fernley's Airport, "Tiger Field," were a new encroachment standing in their own sharp contrast to the once empty valley that surrounded the former dirt strip, itself now paved in modern-day "attire" with a covering of asphalt.
Wild Mustangs and burros were seen along my route, the burros near Mina and the Mustangs just short of Tiger Field, in the hills between Fernley and Silver Springs. A "large" herd of Mustangs in this case, numbering ten that were visible in one grouping, along with another three situated two hillsides closer to Tiger Field on the way into the Town of Fernley.
The town of Mina, the gateway to the scenic Walker Lake area, is home to a number of Mining camps and their old Mining shacks, along with Victorian-era houses, and in its own right, is still regarded as a "tough town" in light of its historic existance in the harsh, desert environs. I believe it was the town cited by General Chuck Yeager in his book "Press On," as having been rude to a number of his fellow pilots, which resulted in a squadron of P-39 Airacobras descending on the old mining camp to shoot up the water tower there and teach the hostile populace an enduring lesson as to "hardship..."
...water being a very scarce commodity in the desert! A rather major deed, shooting up the water tower of an American town, considering the scarce times during World War II, when Hershey wrappers were valued more than the chocolate inside, for the building of the Airacobras that attacked Mina, doing as much damage as might be considered comparable by the townfolk there as say, the Japanese did to Pearl Harbor in that attack which thrust the United States into War, some 66-years-ago this past December 7th!
Yeager and his fellow pilots were based at the time in Tonopah, Nevada, at the old Tonopah Army Air Field, today's Tonopah Airport, which is still home to the World War II era wooden hangars that once housed not only P-39 training squadrons and maintenance, but those assets supporting World War II bombers like the B-17 Flying Fortress, the Consolidated B-24 Liberator and especially, the B-29 Superfortress.
The High Deserts of California and Nevada were a happening place during World War II, and not surprisingly, remain so today in regards to the Flight Test activities of Edwards Air Force Base, on the Muroc Dry Lake, near Rosamond, California, and good ol' "Area 51" and the air base at Tonopah, which once housed the very first "Stealth" assets of the United States Air Force, and did so in relative secrecy.
Tonopah is famed today for that first F-117A Stealth attack bomber squadron that was based there, and which has since moved on to Holloman AFB, New Mexico. New activity is reported at the old Nighthawk bomber field, which sits in close proximity to the famed Super Secret Area 51 and the neighboring "Extraterrestrial Highway," a tribute to the continuing sense of humor collectively owned by the Old Timers and "Sons/Daughters of the Pioneers" of the Nevada desert.
A monument dedicated to the Nighthawk squadron still sits in front of the Tonopah Fire Department, not far from the Mizpah Hotel, which is closed now, but standing by dormantly, awaiting new owners and the next volcanic "Boom" that will take Tonopah from Ghost Town to Metropolis in this, the 21st Century, that proverbial "First Day" in the new life of this 19th and 20th Century, historic mining town.
Back to Fishlake...
Earlier this week, focus was on moving one of the household and office storages from Las Vegas to Dyer, a move that was delayed somewhat by a blowout of a tire on the truck we were using. Apparently a defective tire was the cause, which blew from the inside first with a sound that was like a softball popping against an aluminum bat (the steel tread giving way?), followed by that traditional rush of air that follows the limited explosion marking the end of the brief career of the right, rear, inboard tire. Riding the outer tire at reduced speeds (I had been doing 70 mph; that changed to 55 mph, and then as I thought about it, that speed was further downgraded to 45 mph...), I drove the truck to Pahrump, where the tire was promptly replaced by local D & D Tire, then proceeded to Las Vegas for an overnight stay in the downtown area near the Fremont Street Experience, followed the next day by the moving of said storage back to Dyer, Nevada, and the Fishlake Valley.
On the return trip to drop off the truck in Pahrump, incredible light and shadows on the scenery following one of the first major winter storms of the 2007 Winter season. Snow covered the surrounding mountains and foothills, especially near the Valley floor and Big Dune, an incredibly large, singular sand dune, that towers spectacularly over the Nevada desert and its "Back Alley Brothels," well North of Las Vegas off Highway 95, between Beatty and Pahrump.
Dry Lakes in the area were taking on water from recent rains and limited snow melt, and providing glimmering reflections on the desert floor that one might think were a mirage, until one were to actually take a handful of the brackish water there and give it a taste. A decision this publication strongly advises against! <g> Particularly since you don't know what Burro was there before you...
Wildlife abounds in the Nevada desert, despite the seemingly desolate terrain that is still home to the hardy pioneer and roughneck outlaw (along with a cowardly few that come here to hide...).
In the past few weeks, a trio of Desert Foxes have visited us here at the base of the White Mountains, in Dyer, along with two small herds of Wild Mustangs. A Wolverine was sighted near the old Wells Fargo Stage Coach stop adjacent to a now dying Lake (thank you, Global Warming...). In the skies above, a number of Hawks, including a nearly all white, snowy-looking bird of prey, currently patrolling the alfalfa fields North of Dyer, between Wild Creek road and the Dyer Community Hall.
Chipmunks abound in the old, fallen logs of long-dead Cottonwood trees, and amidst the never-ending Sea of Sage and Creosote that mark the alkalai-based Valley floor and its sand dunes. Add to that, the Kangaroo Rats have become accustomed to the nighly flow of traffic in and out of the Fishlake Valley. They no longer hop about the sands or the asphalt roadways seemingly oblivious to the White Freightliners and Kenworthy Trucks hauling hay and alfalfa in and out of the Fishlake Valley.
Simply put, our Fishlake Valley Kangaroo Rats "haul ass" in the face of Ford Fairlanes and other ground-based fast movers of the High Desert, essentially making their F-16 Fighting Falcon counterparts from the nearby Nellis AFB Bombing Range, look like the 1903 Wright Flyer "Kitty Hawk," as the little rat faces scamper across the roadways just in front of transitioning/passing vehicles and their headlights, in a Pas de Deux choreographed by the Grim Reaper himself, that would make the NHRA virtually high with glee in regards to the display of scampering feet...
...two in the front elevated, the two on the ground in the rear trailing smoke, the tufted tail looking like a "wheelie bar" and the brain controlling all this ~ like the head containing said grey matter ~ contorted backwards from the G-forces caused by sudden acceleration.
Quite the show in the Fishlake Valley!
Like "Frogger," only with live participants and the participants seemingly on LSD!
Rat droppings on the highway spelling out the words "Just Doo It!," or ended with a blood-tainted grease spot indicating "Just Didn't Make It!" or ~ my personal favorite:
"F~ked by the Michelin Man!"
My other personal favorite being:
"What goes on in the Fishlake Valley stays on the Fishlake Valley! At least until the crows arrive!"
With Christmas climbing over the back fence, the days ahead should prove interesting. BBAT ("Bearz Big Azz Truck") still has to be moved from Colorado and there's a very interesting, 1990 Ford Mustang convertible, that has my attention in storage out in California, that will also have to be moved along with the last of our storages, which simply put:
...didn't fit in the 27-foot moving truck that did manage the main bulk of things between the first move from California, and the only move I had to make from Las Vegas, Nevada, following the Great Bear Diaspora from Dallas, Texas, which was of course, preceeded by the Great Bear Diaspora from Colorado Springs, Colorado, following the Great Bear Diaspora from California, which according to Defendant James Richard Campbell, was a State in the Union from which he claims it was hard to track me after I "fleed."
Campbell, of course, failed to note that I wasn't wanted by Law Enforcement for anything; that I have an express Civil Right, as do others, to move about freely in the country, from State to State; that my address was published along with subsequent changes; and if he was looking for me, I was easy enough to find, however, he never served me with anything, and now he's facing Federal Civil charges for conspiracy under the RICO Act, Civil Rights violations, and ultimately Libel, as is his personal minion, one Juan Jiminez, who has been awful quiet as of late.
In fact, both men have, but, too bad, so sad...too late. Testimony and evidence standing by in both their cases, which are now combined into one collective Federal brouhaha, with Houghton, RARA and Sagar ~ all in conspiracy with Campbell ~ with others soon to be added.
Federal Lawsuit or not, I'm amazed that these "individuals" were so stupid to do something this ridiculous to silence me. They accused one man of "giving me in credibility" in Air Racing.
In fact, they were the ones ultimately giving me all the credibility I need by their covert actions.
And why pick on a few guys for giving me "credibility in Air Racing," while not attempting to end my credibility in other Mainstream or Alternative News topics or genres?
How smart is that!? To try and ruin my credibility with a few hundred, without regard to ruining my credibility with millions?
If brains are dynamite, Houghton, RARA et al, wouldn't have enough collectively to blow just one of their noses with!
The V.A. in Reno...
Beyond my visit to the Federal Courthouse on Virginia Street in Reno, south of the downtown area, my primary reason for visiting Reno was to get enrolled at the Reno V.A. ~ which was accomplished quickly and successfully on computer ~ followed by an attempt to get my CPAP (See-Pap) machine exchanged or repaired due to faulty air flow. The CPAP machine forces air into a person's lungs who cannot breathe for themselves while sleeping. My breathing must be machine assisted and air pressure going into my lungs should be at "16.0."
Unfortunately, a recent test of the machine by Vital Care showed the machine to be failing and producing only "11.0" in terms of pressure. The end result, despite even the limited air flow, is suffocation and a severe reduction in the flow of oxygen to the brain ~ something that has been alleged in my writing, by no mere coincidence! <g>
"Ohhh, if only they knew! <GASP!!! COUGH!!! ACK!!! (Apologies to "Bill the Cat!" from "Bloom County," and "Outland," ["Tomorrow! Tomorrow! I'll Claw You, Tomorrow!" <g>] by Berke Breathed [ Yes, that's his real name...Ed.]>"
The attempt to get the machine replaced or repaired was a rousing failure. Clearly, the V.A. system has tied the hands of those working at the local Reno V.A.M.C.
"Sorry, I can't help you!" was the cry of the day, from Cardio Pulmonary on the 4th floor, to the Emergency Room on the ground floor. And they really were "Sorry!" (Apologetic...Ed.)
Clearly, they all wanted to help, perhaps with the exception of one, however, she had issues, so she's forgiven automatically. But as usual, the V.A. in Washington, D.C., remains at fault, tying the hands of everyone involved with that special "brand" of V.A. bureaucratic red tape and rules contrary to the logic and intelligence taught American soldiers previously by the same government, soldiers who now or in the past have found themselves in need of V.A. Medical care.
The contrast is simple between U.S. Army philosophy and V.A. philosophy:
Army philosophy: read the Medal of Honor certificates of every Army soldier who has earned the Medal of Honor for courage, initiative and sacrifice, then read the V.A. philosophy in Webster's Dictionary, found under the word "Sorry!"
Yep! As I always like to say: "Life's a bitch and then you go on living!"
You don't die...they make you keep on living at 11.0 pressure when you're supposed to be on 16.0!
The "Geek" equivalent to that is to hand a guy an abacus when his computer fails! When he asks you to provide another computer or fix the broken one, you tell him: "Sorry!"
For example, the V.A. culture versus that in the Army:
We were taught "initiative," particularly you found yourself in charge during a combat situation. You are taught the Laws, the Rules, the Regulations, the Protocols, and yet, even the lowliest private is taught to be flexible on the battlefield and use common sense over an order that changing battle conditions make impossible for that private or others to carry out without getting killed and failing the mission.
The "Threat" nations that made up our adversaries at the time were taught to obey and carry out their orders strictly. By even the lowliest private being allowed flexibility in advance, he could carry out his mission using his own initiative in first person, seeing what the situation was, then adjusting his orders on his own to carry out the mission, we could exploit the standing enemy order to "obey orders strictly!"
Like Patton said: "Make the other bastard die for his country!"
In the V.A., the "Threat" is Washington, D.C., and the adversaries are the bureaucrats who require people in the V.A. system to carry out their orders strictly, and not adjust to scenarios not covered by standing orders.
Or, in other words, "initiative" as a reaction and response to unknown, unplanned or uncovered scenarios.
You know ~ where providing mandated care can be accomplished by reacting to and identifying situations that orders or lack of orders interfere with. Overcoming the seemingly impossible, undoable and unachievable ~ without facing loss of career ~ by using one's initiative, intelligence and education, in making a positive, pro-active, aggressive, robust decision, that solves the problem immediately. Solves it for everyone...
...all done without the "end result" of fear since you are delegated authority to operate and act in the face of bad orders or non-existant orders in common sense situations.
Instead, and in regards to the latter, the current system of strict adherence to orders in common sense situations, by hospital personnel operating outside of the operating room in adminstrative situations, creates obstacles for the provision of services by V.A. personnel to veterans and disabled veterans in the V.A. "Medical Care" system...
...the latter the latest "Oxymoron" developed by the United States Government in describing how much it cares about Veterans of the Military services. V.A. "Medical Care!"
Oxymorons and acronyms...I just love the Government for these things! <g>
~~~~~~~~~~

"Admiral, who was the NINCOMPAC that thought up all these acronyms?"

~ Alan Alda, "Hawkeye," having invaded a Press Conference in "M*A*S*H"

(The Admiral's response: <cheerfully, oblivious> "I don't know!")

~~~~~~~~~~
Thus, in having to carry out orders with strict compliance, instead of providing care to veterans, hospital personnel at the V.A. in Reno are forced to refuse service instead, lest they lose their jobs. Not their fault, believe it or not.
The Government as a Burden on the U.S. Veteran, not Vice-Versa...
Now, here's a "View Askew" scenario for you:
You would think, coming from a Military with a history that includes General Patton's exclamations of "Audacity! Audacity! Audacity!" and "Attack! Attack! Attack!," or going back further in time to the Civil War and Admiral Farragut's exclamation, while lashed to the rigging of his ship due to vertigo: "Damn the torpedoes! FULL SPEED AHEAD!," one would think that the Department of Veterans Affairs and their leadership in Washington D.C. would be thinking the same way, but it's more like a cringing "Steve Irkel" whining in horror: "Did I do that?," that makes the Department of Veterans Affairs leadership fear for the loss of its collective paycheck, thereafter transferring that fear down the ranks to undermanned, overworked, V.A. facilities, whom are surprisingly ALSO underfunded!!! <grrr>
Otherwise, do you know how many V.A. personnel it takes to do 1,045,666 tasks at a single V.A. facility!!?? <GGG>
"One!"
I feel for the front line V.A. hospital worker who feels for me, cares for me, and is estopped from helping me by their superiors and the bureaucracy in Washington, D.C. I also feel for my fellow vets since "What they do to one of us, they do to all of us," so said Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
So don't get me started on how Houghton and RARA treat veterans out at Reno-Stead Airport! <double grrr, triple grrr, quadruple grrr and...grrr...FIPLE GRRR!!! That's right: "fiple grr!" You heard it hear first at SSNS! Ed.>
Common sense and flexibility, initiative and other positive acts and aspects of "Leadership" that are taught in the military, are outlawed by the V.A., whose new Director recently committed himself to providing better medical care to all veterans and a reduction in the time that it takes for a Veteran to process through the eligibility and enrollment procedure, which determine service connection, type and amount of Disability and Medical Services/Benefits, all "allegedly" to be provided to existing and future Veterans in return for their sacrifices and services while in the military.
All the Director's words a pack of lies, since he would actually be "committing" Career Suicide if he didn't say those things, and also since these promises have been made before by similar Directors going through the motions before Congress and the Senate, though nothing has changed other than the tone and resonancy of the snoring of those not listening!
They want all of us Veterans to go away or die, except during an election year. That is the attitude of the V.A. Bureaucracy in Washington, D.C. Frankly, it must also be the attitude of the Congress and Senate as reflected in their deep sleep over the Veteran's predicament reflecting the shallow values by which they address said Veteran's needs!
In that way ~ Veterans dying ~ either way, the V.A. and our Elected Representatives provide for the Republican President du Jour so that he can divert funding from Veterans issues to other programs, like Wars that create more Disabled Veterans, and the Economy can look more "robust" ~ you know, like Yuban Coffee, which makes nice dishwater, too! <g> ~ as the Government will be spending more on military weapons systems rather than on a bunch of broken up, wounded, has-been veterans, that the Government quite frankly, would rather serve Yuban Coffee to, rather than provide them with their true medical needs, services and benefits.
The Democrats are equally guilty for allowing this scenario to happen and continue. So don't think for a moment that this scenario is partisan in nature.
The Democrats aren't serving cream with that robust, Yuban Coffee, nor half-and-half, whiskey from the Kennedy's (Ted's, in particular...Ed.) private stock, powdered creamer nor flour passed off as powdered creamer, because Yeast was too damned expensive, though it was the right color at least and the Veteran, taking in Yeast, like the South, might actually rise again.
Worse, the Republicans pour the coffee while the Democrats enter into committee rather quickly, in order to decide how they're going to drill a hole in the bottom of that cup and deny us Veterans our last benefit ~ robust, Yuban Coffee ~ before smashing the cup in the radical, liberal belief that "no coffee is good coffee and good for our Veterans' health!" <sound of funeral dirge, as robust Yuban Coffee was not only the last thing keeping us alive, but frankly, the only thing. Which is to say ~ feel free to lick the coffee off the floor, but beware of the doughnuts at the local V.A. Medical Center!)
The moral of this particular story: A starving government hates a sacred cow that it can't eat lock, stock and barrell. That, and watch out for the doughnuts at the local V.A.
You're getting all this, right!? <g>
And if the government were to provide benefits to Veterans and Disabled Veterans in the manner that it claims it "wants to," the American people would understand the real cost of their military in terms of hardship, then would want to know the hardships of active duty soldiers, sailors, airmen, marines and coast guardsmen, and come down hard on the continued War mongering of the military machine, the amounts unspent on Veterans versus the amounts spent on weaponry that causes soldiers to become Disabled Veterans on both sides, thereafter, choosing more carefully for the Politicians the Wars the American Government involves itself in. Which in turn, affects the profits of the Military Machine and the U.S. Economy, which turn around and attempt to control the People and how they vote.
Just the same, Wars for the benefit of the Corporations and the Military Machine are unacceptable, and if the true cost in humanity were known, they would be intolerable.
Wars to free others trapped and enslaved by their governments, which is something the United States is rapidly becoming ("Who will save us?"), would be the only acceptable armed conflicts that The People would allow their government to participate in, with caveat:
...if it weren't for the fact that Americans are slaves to their own Economy and the American Corporate Government running the same. Becoming hard for Americans to make the right Ethical choice when money is involved in the equation, along with their jobs.
As it is, don't let those yellow ribbons fool you, all you Veterans out there reading this and either plotting my assassination or plotting the assassinations of those who would assassinate me. You know ~ like "Spy versus Spy," or "Electronic Counter Measures" and the "Electronic Counter Counter Measures" who hate them. ECM versus ECCM, the American Military's version of "Kramer versus Kramer!" <g>
The American People still hate their soldiers, sailors, airmen, marines, coast guardsmen, Veterans and Disabled Veterans. Their actions betray their own words, particularly as they allow Corporations to control them and believe everything the politicians and bureaucrats have to say.
Worse: those "United We Stand" bumper stickers should be sold in halves. "Some Assembly Required," if you will.
Those that can assemble them properly are on the right track. Those that can't, need some educating as to the damage "Division" has on the asset: "Strength in numbers."
Trapped Between a Two-Party System...
The American People are divided by a two-Party political process. There needs to be a Voter's Revolt with both parties voted out, and candidates voted in by "Write-in." AND...
...this country needs an Education System that teaches how to assemble those United We Stand bumper stickers to go properly on a fender. Our robots have the construction of our automobiles down pat...getting those United We Stand bumper stickers assembled on the fenders is our only hang up. People are involved in that process, not robots, and sometimes that's a very good thing, and other times that's a very bad thing. At least there's no "unity" in such mediocrity!
Yes, it's true. "United We Stand" my ass!
This country is divided by "Politics!" Worse, by money, power, greed and lust, the latter two issues derivatives of "Passion," and not just that which is sexually motivated. A person can be passionate in their beliefs, for example.
A person's passion in their beliefs can affect their judgement when it comes to fairness, equality, impartiality and even handedness, one of the main complaints the Muslim World has against us, in regards to our continuing support of Israel, sometimes to the detriment of even Israel, when it comes to peaceful resolution of the Middle East Conflict.
Here within America, and separate from the Middle East conflict, if one side doesn't get their way, they fight the other side "tooth and toenail" based on the "Passion of their Beliefs," until they achieve their objective regardless of the vote.
We were taught as children that, in our "Democracy" (read that as "Limited Democracy) if one side loses a vote, the losing side would support the other side's decision. In a "Majority Rule" or "Democratic situation, fairness is achieved when one side accepts the result of a vote that goes against them and supports the decision of the other side.
As adults (SEE the negative definition of "Children" in Webster's Dictionary...Ed.) we don't practice what we preach, thus, "division." Both sides fighting to have their way, accomplishing nothing, other than a Political "accordian effect" that has the country bouncing back and forth between issues, and essentially making a lot of noise while going nowhere.
In that regard, we often find that children have a better track record than adults for fairness.
Corporate and Political interests play us "both ends towards the middle," have us taking sides, as opposed to working together as a People for what we believe is right, which makes us their (Corporations/Politicians) subordinates or slaves as opposed to the Corporations and the Politicians remaining under control of the American People, not to mention, the overall will of the American People being done based on fairness and the nobility of accepting loss of an issue based on a Democratic vote.
Thus, U.S. torture of Muslim prisoners at Abu Ghraib became a situation out of the control of the American People, for which the American People take the blame for their Government, without regard to Corporate interests in the Iraqi War, and had the will of the People been done instead of the Corporations and the Politicians that are funded by them, Abu Ghraib might not have happened. The will of the People could have prevented Abu Ghraib, because the American People will not tolerate torture of others in their name, as they would not want that for themselves or their children.
Not only that, Americans don't hate Muslims. They're not interested in any "Crusade." America is a place where all religions are welcome, especially the Muslim religion, and torture is intolerable. And yet, torture has none the less been taking place, not only against Muslims, but against Americans ~ our Prison system for non-terrorist related crimes is proof of that. An abode for Human Rights violations ~ any way you look at them ~ that come back to haunt us daily. And Americans are debating whether or not "Waterboarding" is torture.
Folks ~ this is a no-brainer! If it's "cruel and unusual punishment," as forbidden by the Bill of Rights, U.S. Constitution, or is forbidden in use against Americans, or is forbidden by the Geneva Convention, then it's torture by our own definitions!
What is there to debate!!??
"What they do to one of us, they do to all of us..." ~ Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
If we allow it against others, then we've just justified the use of torture upon ourselves and worse, our children!
If we allow the Civil Rights of others to be violated, in terms of our own possession of our American Civil Rights; if we commit or allow crimes to be committed against others, including and especially Prisoners of War or armed conflicts in general that Spin Masters attempt to deescalate into something other than "War" for political agenda, then we've just authorized crimes to be committed against ourselves.
If we stand idly by and passively do nothing, we've approved of such misconduct against others by our silence and failure and/or refusal to act, and furthermore, have authorized the use of such barbaric means against ourselves by our own Society.
There is no debate ~ waterboarding is torture and torture is intolerable in American and World society. And here we are, debating the undebatable.
So much for even "Limited" Democracy, an obscene oxymoron made purely pornographic as a result of our own immorality to act against this issue, as opposed to being willing to debate it!
The same is true of all crime in general ~ if we do nothing against it, then we authorize criminals to act against us, our children and future generations. Those of our neighbors as well. That's why we do NOT tolerate crime in America! We don't authorize criminals to exist in this country, let alone, commit crimes ~ and commit crime they do, however, not with impugnity. Not without Law Enforcement constantly on their heels chasing and capturing them. Not without Courts to prosecute them. Not without prisons to punish them and a system to process offenders who remain a risk to the Public-at-Large.
A Backlash Against Veterans Perpetrated by the Very People that Vote For and Fund War...
The many Abu Ghraibs going on daily in Iraq and Afghanistan, and elsewhere in the eyes of the Muslim World, along with that World that is strictly American ~ that America that remembers My Lai more than the World Trade Center or Pearl Harbor ~ isn't helping the Active Duty Military nor the Veteran/Disabled Veteran one bit.
And the hostility produces one vicious circle ~ one Pirhanna feeding off the tail of another until all are consumed by each other. Abu Ghraib might not have happened if soldiers weren't sent off to fight battles for the benefit of American Corporations, rather than the benefit of the enslaved and those who face another form of enslavement: their ideals to American interests.
American interests are what's keeping American soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan, not the best interest of the Peoples there in their own homelands. The extended American presence is merely worsening the situation. Causing the extended American presence is the time needed to train the domestic militaries to combat radical religious fundamentalists and zealots, not to mention, a handful of madmen leading them.
Nothing's going to change in the way of American involvement overseas. Nothing's going to change for the soldiers "Over There." Nothing's going to change here in the United States in the way of Veteran's care, other than changes for the worse affecting all.
Not unless a Voter's Revolt takes place.
Though Obama may represent an anti-establishment candidate, he is still part of the Democratic Party establishment. Hillary Clinton might be a woman, but she's running on the coattails and cigar of her husband Bill. The only time I want to see a Mitt in the White House is when the winner of the World Series is visiting the President and presenting him with an autographed baseball.
"President Huckabee?" Yeah, that's going to embolden our enemies into respecting us. May as well elect Huck Finn...
Frankly, I don't see anyone in the way of a candidate in either party that can do the job needing done, unless the overthrow of the American Government by enemy forces is the job needing done and frankly, the Government has been overthrown by enemies domestic, i.e., the interests of Corporations.
I think the American People can accomplish an "overthrow" themselves, putting their Government right, taking its current direction and refocusing the "Elected Representatives" on a Government of the People, by the People and for the People, rather than of, by and for the Corporation.
However, it's going to take a Voter's Revolt, and how do you accomplish that without legitimate candidates to replace the posers and fakes running on teflon, template positions that we've all heard time and time before?
In the end, the American People must choose a President. How do they send that "Politician" and the Government AND the Corporation the message, the signal, that the People are in charge, while being forced into voting for "clones?"
Simply put, you can vote for whomever you want, Democrat, Republican, a Movie Star, Your Neighbor, your Pet, Superman, Snoopy, whatever (!), but to exercise true control, don't simply agree and "go along with the flow" by checking off a name on a ballot; don't risk your vote to "Hanging Chad" ~ a guy that would happily and not-so-impartially hang you in the end, since his existence and the choice he makes on your behalf is in reality, decided by Bureaucrats "guessing" as to what "Chad's Choice Is!"
Write your candidate's name in, then together, hold that individual accountable.
Democrat, Republican, Independent, Libertarian, Power Ranger, doesn't matter.
Don't give in to the established system of voting like a Corporate-perceived "Lemming" based on multiple candidates, none of your choosing. Don't surrender the power of your vote by robotically checking off a "block by a name" because someone in the establishment tries to make you believe that those are the only choices you have.
Those "heads" on the campaign literature that Corporations are funding with their monies. Check off the "block" and all you do is elect a "Block Head" as a result!
Multiple candidates that are not of your choosing are no better than a single candidate not of your choosing, which America railed against when it came to the "Voting System" of Governments that were Communist in nature, particularly that of the former Soviet Union.
Multiple candidates that are not of the People's choosing are merely a hypocritical way for "Money and Power" to make you think you have a choice when they are clearly involved in a conspiracy that prevents you from actually having one (a choice). The funding of limiting your choices to adequate, honest, truthful and effective representation in Washington D.C. and elsewhere is a crime known as "Voter Fraud."
Don't be a party to it. Don't be a member of a Party that is a "party to it."
If everyone does that ~ a "Write In Vote" ~ then by their hands, their minds, their hearts, their souls and most importantly, their will, they send the message to all Politicians, the U.S. Government, and all Governments around the World, that the American People are in charge, not a bunch of stand up comedians on television, not a bunch of lying Politicians nor greedy Corporate interests, but the American People are in charge and whom they elect is the man or woman, regardless of Religion, Color, Sex or Wealth, that represent them because THEY control this person's actions and conduct alone, no other.
They, the "People," elect a candidate not based on his or her Party affiliation, but rather, by the Quality of Their Elected Representatives "Character." Even if that person belongs to a Political Party, the voters get to reject the two Party nonsense and by their hands, with the ink pen of their own choosing, they elect their individual choice, not that of those who pay for the printing of ballots ~ and don't be fooled into thinking that "you" are paying to print "those names" on "that ballot." A Corporation is and a Corporation gets the money and the job of printing in the end.
It will take a little work. You must be able to write your candidate's name without making an "X" in a block or to represent his/her name.
Unfortunately, the two-Party political system has already short changed us on Education. It may be too late for America as this task may already be impossible.
Epilog...
I was refused medical equipment and services yesterday by the Reno V.A. that keep me alive. The fault for that fact is primarily in Washington, D.C., not Reno.
What goes on in Washington D.C., just the same, is the responsibility of The People and how they vote. I can fight what happened. I can go to the Inspector General of the V.A. and complain; I can appeal the decision all the way to the United States Supreme Court and embarass the V.A. in the process; or I can sue the V.A. in the Courts and thumb my nose at their corrupt, demeaning and unworkable system.
I can do this while I am well; I can do this while I am sick. Attorneys, likewise, are becoming more and more available to Veterans pursuing Veterans' Issues, so hiring an Attorney is not outside the realm of possibility.
The problem is this: that other Veterans and I have to do this at all, to obtain the Benefits we are mandated to receive but are none the less cheated out of by the Federal Government, the Politicians and the Bureaucrats, is indicative of a Government that doesn't actually care, though it gives the "appearance" that it does. Further, the need for action against the Government over Veterans Issues is indicative of a system in failure. A waste, fraud and abuse, all directed primarily at the Veteran, but also, at the People and their Treasury.
Where is the money going if it's not helping Veterans?
I'm not the only Veteran suffering...there are others who have suffered worse than I. In fact, my "suffering" is minor, and my very life is at risk in the balance, but others have still suffered and continue to suffer worse than I ever will.
Many soldiers, sailors, airmen, marines and coast guardsmen, have made the ultimate sacrifice at the hands of murderers and murderer's policies in Washington D.C., in combat with their own Government. They've died in their beds fighting for benefits, resisting the degredations of the Politicians and Bureaucrats, forgiving the hatred of the People, out of neglect delivered upon them that is worse than what has ever been delivered in torture upon Prisoners of War.
Many have died on beds of cardboard or simply on the street, not in their own beds, not in hospital beds; some shot down by Law Enforcement officials who were ill trained or failed to understand ~ like the People that pay them, too ~ the issue of "Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome." That illness did not originate in Vietnam, only knowledge of it did and that knowledge actually followed the Vietnam conflict ~ it wasn't gleaned during that so-called "Police Action." PTSD goes back to the Wars that preceeded the American Revolution of 1776. PTSD is a result of all forms of War, cold or hot, violent or non-violent, mental or physical, against enemies foreign, domestic, real or in theory.
Everyone in Life will ultimately suffer from it; some, worse than others. That is the truth of PTSD...stress occurs in all forms of Life, in all types of conflict or issues where conflict is prevelent.
The failure of this Government to take care of its Veterans is occurring in Washington D.C., but originates from the collective heart of the People through the voting machines they either willingly or are forced to utilize every two to four years, to include the provision by their Government of knowingly defective ballots.
Unthinkable in a Democracy?
You're forgetting ~ we're a "limited" Democracy, and how you treat your Active Duty Military and Veterans determines whether or not you're worthy of a full Democracy; how you control those who control our Military also determines that issue.
One man, one vote, no Elected Representative making your vote for you, only preparing bills for you to review and that you and others like you vote upon, "yay or nay." That's a "Full Democracy."
That's currently what does not truly exist in the United States of America. Your vote could change that, if exercised properly, and a Voter Revolt is the perfect place to exercise true Freedom.
