April 22, 2006

Gallery of This Morning's Activities 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Something Old, Something New...

ARF, Guillows, Comet interlaced with Goldberg, Sig and others...

...dead center in this picture, a Carl Goldberg RC Control model of the original Shoestring Racer...it was gone in twenty minutes.

Just the same, more models are on the way from the warehouse.

The early bird customers were a diverse group that went from built plastic and wood kits, to Antique Desk Models, to the new and used RC types, box and plastic kits, engines, fuel tanks, paints, fuels, fabric, dope and other accessories.

A Classic ESCI Douglas AH-1H Skyraider Kit on display.

One of the completed Balsa flyers with motor (and wing, not pictured) on display for sale at T&A Hobby Lobby.

T&A is a fantastic source for RC Accessories, including floats, pilots (cockpit figurines, upper torso), WWII Pilots, glues, paints, parts, engines, fuel tanks, servos, peanut flyer kits, slow flyers, fast flyers. If you want an ARF Rare Bear, today and tomorrow are the days to wander in and get one...that is, if they're not sold by today!

Old kits, already built, sought by kids and collectors, sit in piles at T&A today, awaiting new owners and preferably, restorers. A Museum modeler could have tremendous fun restoring these for their organization.

No shortage of paints and planes, particularly of the RC variety in regards to the latter.

Plastics and RCs lined along the glass model display cases at T&A.

Tony (left) was beseiged by buyers this morning...and the siege is still underway through tomorrow, then beginning again on Tuesdaya and running through Saturday. There is still a warehouse to clear.

Bag kits, which are models whose boxes were either destroyed or collected, though no harm came to the model inside, are sprinkled throughout the displays at T&A. Easter may have been last week, but the Eggplane hunt is on this week!

A seclection of old and new model kits, and discounted diecast, such as the Mirage fighter in the box sitting foreround.

The ready built Razorback P-47 and F4U-1A Corsair I've seen for up to $90.00 at Hobby shops throughout the Southern California area. I checked the prices today at T&A ~ $45.00 for these highly detailed, 1:18th Scale replicas of the WWII fighters. Others include the Warhawk, FW-190 and ME-109, seen there this morning.

The original Flying Undertaker P-51D is also at T&A, which provides an Air Race collector with an alternate idea: a 1:18 scale racer for his office or room. In the foreground, classic Stuka kits by Monogram.

Sixteen box kits of various types, believed to be all wood. I'll have more information about these this evening...
