RARF? Don't Make Me Barf!
Editorial by Mark S. "Bear" Daniels
Well, as all of you know the Reno
Harrassment Association (RASSHOLE), also known as
"RARA" (Rhymes with HAHA) is still out there
selling RARA memberships while they and their subordinate
organization RARF (Rhymes with Barf), are out trying to
sell license plates.
Only problem is, last year, Mike Houghton confirmed that
the Air Races would be shutting down. And though RARF has
been established to do the same job that RARA was supposed
to do, there's no guarantee that they will and that
includes the issue of building an Air Racing Museum at
Stead Airport, Nevada, when they've sold off all the
other land so that the AAWC could defraud the Federal
government by building a Reno-Stead Airport Regional
Business Center, which will primarily be Industrial
Manufacturing and Warehousing.
A Non-Aviation purpose in other words, when an Aviation
purpose exists for Stead Airport at this time, in support
of BLM Tanker Operations, the Air Races, Air National
Guard operations, US Marine Corps operations, Army
National Guard operations, Washoe County Sheriff Aero
Squadron, Civil and Military Med Evac, charter operations
and General Aviation use away from Reno-Tahoe
International Airport, to include, Glider Operations.
As it is, RARA is known to be handing out under the table
bonuses to its Directors despite their quiet demeanor and
lack of denial on the subject. Houghton is known to have
personally assaulted an AAWC Secretary with a verbal
tirade when she discussed the matter on a Message Board
as though the information were out there and well known.
She was correct...there are others in existence within
RARA and who have left that organization who have seen
the same information.
Now, the RARF is supposedly utilizing it's position as a
Non-profit charity to solicit for donations and for
artifacts that it has indicated will be included in a new
Museum planned for Stead, which is marked on at least one
of the plans that this Editor personally saw during
inspection of documents at the AAWC. All this despite
Brian Kulpin's indication that the AAWC had no plans for
any development at Stead Airport. And this despite the
fact that when he said that, this Editor had in his
possession, two documents indicating aggressive
development plans for Stead Airport, one signed by the
Real Estate Queen of Reno, Nevada, and AAWC Director,
Krys Bart, and the other signed by AAWC Planner Dean
Schulz. These were Public Record provided by the BLM in
Carson City, during a Public Records inspection conducted
by this Editor there.
As it is, RARF is no better than RARA, in that Thomas
Gribbin is the Director and Member of the Board of both
organizations, and is also on the Board of Trustees at
AAWC. In regards to the AAWC, this is in violation of
Nevada State Law, as established by State Sentator
William "Kingpin" Raggio, the Senate Majority
Leader, and an Attorney at Law at Jones Vargas, which
represents both the AAWC and RARA.
Talk about your conflicts of interest in regards to both
men, and remember that in Gribbin's case, he's on the
Board of Trustees of the AAWC, which although a
quasi-municipal entity, and though it's Board is not
elected by the Public, they somehow have the right of
eminent domain. That means they can vote people of the
land they own, confiscate the land, and use it for
Airport (hee-yeah, right) purposes, as they did with the
lands involved in the Rewana Farms Scandal,
as exposed by Public
Watchdog, Sam Dehne.
In that regard, they confiscated the lands of a large
number of home owners, apartment owners and renters, in
the guise of "Noise Abatement," then
immediately turned around and proceeded with a secret
plan they had ~ which became public, thanks to Colonel
Dehne ~ to build a 100-jet cargo facility on the site,
which would substantially increase noise not only by
aircraft, but by trucks that would operate on a
24-hour-basis, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year, untold
numbers of years, at said Cargo facility. Gribbin's
construction company was supposed to be involved in
building the project. How sweet it is.
So now we have Gribbin in charge of RARF, as well as on
the Board of Directors of RARA, and illegally on the
Board of Trustees for AAWC, telling the Air Racing World
to donate, whether it be aircraft, artifacts, money, or
even to buy license plates, for the great task that lies
ahead.
Stop and think: If there's no Air Racing on site, what
draw will the RARF Museum have in an area that already
has trouble drawing people to the Air Races, because RARA
and RARF claim to lack the money to pay a proper purse,
or advertise, while at the same time, the Directors at
RARA are getting bonuses under the table for having done
what?:
For having sold the land to their friends at the AAWC,
who intend and have announced to the Air Racing Classes
already (source: Ray Sherwood, IF1's rightful President)
that they won't be racing at Reno very much longer, as
Mike Houghton has finally announced, and so too has that
louse Wayne Sagar announced, that the Air Races will be
shutting down...
...something that SSNS reported years ago, while all
denied and claimed ~ in Sagar's words ~ "I need
proof," though bundles of evidence existed which he
refused to look at.
Well folks, let me put it very bluntly, think twice
before you join as a member of RARA, and think three
times hard, about whether you want to donate to the RARF.
RARA hasn't had a membership meeting that we're aware of
despite the fact they are collecting membership funds and
handing out membership cards. In a Non-profit
Corporation, the Membership votes on what the Board
proposes. In this particular group, the Board takes your
money and refuses you any voice, vote, forum for
discussions, ability to propose changes, opportunity to
file complaints, etc.
"Taxation without representation is Tyranny,"
so said Patrick Henry, in the time of the Revolution.
And as for RARF, since Houghton, Gribbin et al, will
liquidate and pocket the proceeds of the Reno Air Racing
Association (RARA), what makes you think your donations
of aircraft, artifacts and money, are going to mean
anything if RARF gets liquidated along with RARA!? Why
not just take your money and slip it into the hands of
Houghton, Gribbin, Eck, Walther, Robinson, Fisher, et al,
and save yourself the disappointment?
Take a look at www.rarf.org.
The site has been recently updated for 2006 fundraising.
The only problem is, the site's copyright began in 2004,
and is scheduled to end in 2006, and to date, no word on
what these funds will be utilized for at the RARF site.
"Wings & Strings?" Beyond the Orchestra's
educational goals for their funds, will RARF use its
proceeds towards the purpose it indicates, and if so,
how, and what about public accountability, since their
Public Records are closed-off too? And how much is the
Reno Hilton's cut, or are they donating the hall and
their employees time? If the latter, or the former, for
that matter ~ shouldn't that information also be posted
on the Publicized websites (Three websites total, at this
time of writing...)?
Then you have to contact RARF for information about their
activities...isn't that what a website is for? The
website lists little in the way of information. Once
again, no accountability as to what the funds are being
spent for. Funds already taken in. I repeat, both RARA
and the RARF are refusing inspection of the Public
Record, and I will add that their partners in crime, the
AAWC and Krys Bart et al, are blocking it with provision
of obsolete information and a facade of lies.
The Wings and Strings event indicates that the RARF side
of the proceeds will go to support educational programs
and events related to Aviation.
What about education in regards to Air Racing? And do we
really want the "loserships" (once was
"leadership," i.e., Bill Stead, Thorton
Audrain, et al) at RARA and the RARF around children in
the first place, considering how they currently treat
people in Aviation and Air Racing, when they're not
guzzling champagne in their Astronaut of the Day fest.
Should we send people like Mike Houghton out as
Ambassadors to Young People, right after a night of his
exploits down at the Hilton Pylon Bar? Considering how
badly the Air Racers get treated by these clowns, do we
want anyone of tender years getting their Aviation pep
talks from the dredges of Air Racing "Society"
(read as: Sorority, Banned Sorority,
Animal House...) like Mike
Houghton, Tom Robinson, Bill "Mr. CIA" Eck or
Tom "Loose Lips" Gribbin?
Oh, and if one considers the RARA Girl line of clothing
they tried to develop after stealing from others, will it
be: "A man's place in Aviation is the cockpit; a
woman's place in Aviation is with us! Down at the Hilton
Pylon Bar!" ~ !!??
Based on their treatment of others in Air Racing, the
Warbird Community and Aviation in General, these RARA and
RARF clowns have NOTHING to offer our children or
grandchildren, and hopefully, someone is going to see
that and put a stop to the charades of Fisher, Houghton,
Gribbin, Robinson, Eck, Walther, et al.
Wouldn't it be nice if they
at RARA and RARF raised a glass of champagne in toast to
Lyle Shelton, Bill Destefani, Tom Dwelle, or any other
veteran or rookie of Air Racing, instead of messing with
them all the time, or year-in and year-out, padding their
RARA nest eggs with more feathers in the form of
appointments to the RRL and the like, or with moneys from
these events that are not going to Air Racing or Air
Racer related issues, and all by kissing the ass of
someone who has been in outer space?
And the astronauts truly think they're being honored, and
not being set-up for an ulterior motive. You or I would
honor them, but RARA, the RARF...are users and abusers.
You can see that in the way they treat the racers, so
what do you expect to change in the way of their conduct?
These decadent souls at RARA and RARF have seen the
future, and all of Air Racing is excluded. That's why
you're seeing toasts to Astronauts, not Air Racers. No
Reno Air Race parades anymore, though everyone else gets
that star treatment down South Virginia Avenue. They at
RARA and the RARF are trying to finagle a position with
the Rocket Racing League and Dr. Peter H. Diamandis. RARA
and the RARF have to pay their way in. Where do you seriously
think the money is coming from?
So, RARA already has a business deal with the Rocket
Racing League (RRL)? Where's the money coming from for
that, as well? Why won't they open the Public Record? Why
are they banning Press? Why are they threatening
everyone? Why are they shutting down? Why did they really
sell the land? What do they have planned next?
And are you happy that RARA is bringing the RRL to Reno?
With Houghton's safety record? How do they hope to
pinpoint land these Racers, which will be coming in to
land as gliders, power off, deadstick, when other landing
sites require dry lake bed style surroundings? All that
Stead has to offer is sage and fixed runway positions.
The lack of open area for free-style landings could prove
deadly. Autoflight controls might take human factors out
of the scenario, but the winds at Stead and the
turbulence there near the mountains and hills, could
still prove fatal in an aircraft with no go-around
capability.
Bill Anders, Hoot Gibson, Curt Brown and the late Deke
Slayton. They all deserve their due. As astronauts and
racers. They've all contributed above and beyond the call
of duty outside their assigned duties in the Military and
with NASA. One has passed away (Slayton). Another has
retired and performs the Heritage flights (Anders). Two
continue to race (Gibson and Brown). Three of the four
have been saluted (Brown, Gibson and Anders). Repeatedly,
and that's a good thing.
However, what about the rest of Air Racing?
RARA has money to party, but not enough for Advertising
in the massive population of the nearby, Bay area, which
includes San Francisco, Oakland and Sacramento, not to
mention, San Jose and the Silicon Valley, the latter of
which boasts some of the greatest technological minds of
this past century and the current? That additional draw
would give them more money to party, and more money for
the purse, plus additional income boosts to the
Community. If the community knew how much, they might opt
out of the building of a Reno-Stead Airport Regional
Business Center and choose to stay with an event that
makes the name "Reno" famous and prestigious
World-round, and keep those tourist funds coming in. They
might hold an event that size twice a year and fill in
with smaller races featuring a mix of classes and
increase both draw, as well as income and sponsorship,
plus television coverage. The Community might just do
that.
The question is, why isn't RARA doing that at this time?
Houghton's crybaby attitude that ESPN costs too much is
rubbish. Don't pay ESPN, have someone pay you for
television coverage, and get them involved in covering
Air Races. Not enough draw, advertise outside of Reno and
hold more events. Keep the land, don't sell it, since
Moya Olsen Lear donated the land for the course and I
don't think she planned on having either herself or her
family members cheated out of what would otherwise be
their rightful inheritence, especially
if RARA hadn't the intent to race on the land, but
rather, announced it had intent to
profiteer by selling it to their
friends at the AAWC, and under false
pretenses to boot!
Thus, it would seem that the current loserships
of RARA and the RARF could care less about Air Racing,
the Air Racer, the Team, the Team Owner, the fans, the
Air Show Industry, et al, therefore, why should you or I
pump our hard-earned money into their organizations, one
of which is destined to be liquidated thanks to the
illegal conduct of Mike Houghton and the Board in selling
the land to the AAWC that was meant for use as a
racecourse by Moya Olsen Lear; the other, likely to be
liquidated, because it only seems to have something to do
with Air Racing in an Aviation sense, is not devoted to
the Sport, could care less (like RARA) about the Racers;
is led by the same cretins who lead RARA; and is likely
to never build a museum that will see the light of day,
and is even more likely to be liquidated since money and
power, and not the noble cause, are all they care about.
Truth be told: if they cared about Air Racing, why would
they sell the land, try to move the air races, then plan
on liquidating the grandest event of our century, into
oblivion?
Perhaps you should all consider putting your hard earned
moneys not into license plates, that should be made by
the entire Board of RARA and RARF while institutionalized
in a prison, and RARA/RARF donation boxes that should be
filled instead with Bandini !
Rather, put that hard earned money into the hands of your
favorite Air Racers and sponsor their Teams directly!
Especially since charity minded RARA insists that whole
classes must present Sponsors on the RARA alter, as I've
said before, so Mike Houghton can get down to his
skivvies and roll in it like Demi Moore, in a scene from
the movie "Indecent
Proposal."
For that's exactly what you have here...RARA and RARF
with their hands out. And that equates, based on their
misconduct, past, present, and what we know is going down
in the future, to an "Indecent
Proposal" that all in Air
Racing should reject!
That is all...but don't be surprised if I have more to
say about this in the future. The near future in fact.
