Alternate Events To Replace Reno "Invitational" Air Racing on Your Schedule:

Or, Why Mike Houghton, the Reno Air Racing Association and the "National Championship Air Races" Suffer From a Major Lack of Credibility,

"Part I, For Answer: SEE 'Mike Houghton'..."

A Dying Breed...

Oh, how we're all going to miss this (see photo above), but just the same, there are still others out there trying to get new Air Races organized. And when those races occur, you won't have to sell your soul to the Devil (perhaps Ticketmaster, but not the Devil...) to get this kind of action, as a fan, as a spectator, up close!

Times are changing! The mentally ill can fly Glasair III's and Rocket Racers at the Reno National Championship "Invitational" Air Races, well then by God, they can start putting grandstands in the infield!

Until that time, the way Houghton has them set-up, the National Championship Air Races are a dead event! Invitational means "fixed races" because competitors and contenders can be eliminated "just because Mikey H says so," and its classified by Der Houghton as an "Entertainment" event...

...I guess much like the Spanish Inquisition was an "Entertainment Event" and Fray Tomas de Torquemada was the "Jerry Springer of his day."

So, if you're sick of Dog & Pony Shows, consider some of these alternatives (below), even though the purse money in Pigeon Racing may not be spectacular, it's probably looking pretty good to Formula One Air Racing right now, who are wishing they had an "Unanticipated Expenses Fund" to handle the fact that Houghton's "Unanticipated Expenses Fund" was, well...

...Unanticipated? <G>

And who's going to know a Pigeon from a an IF1 racer...

...Pigeons are a damned sight louder and the pilot can always fill up the fuselage with marshmallows that fall out the tail wheel (roller skate) well every now and then...making "the bird" look realistic.

That a Pigeon has longer range well, that might be a problem, but I digress...

Hell, even Houghton can't tell the difference! between Planes and Pigeons! If they fly, they all look like Pigeons to Mickey Da Rat! That's why he takes their money and they're so willing to give it, all so that they can be treated like dirt in order that they can race for him! Not even for peanuts! Not even for chicken scratch! If a Pigeon has the entry fee and Sponsors, Adolf Houghton will happily take both! Then have Squab when the two do "lunch..."

Anyhow, this is a perpetual page that we'll be updating from time-to-time...have a look around...seek out the alternatives.

There is a Methadone for Air Racing withdrawals. It's called a "good book," but if you need pistons, or just want some spontaneous, non-fixed-by-Racketeers, good-old-fashioned American excitement made in Taiwan, well there's Tennis, Bowling, Beach Volleyball, Shuffleboard, Horseshoes and a whole host of other sports that aren't fixed ~ yeah, like World Wrestling Entertainment! Oh, wait a minute, I just described a non-sporting event. Bad word. Naughty word.

Can't have people believing Wrestling is fixed or for that matter, entertaining...

...THE ROLLER DERBY!

Yeah, I can live with that! People on roller skates trying to kill each other...er, wait...

I just described the target rich environment in an Air Racing Pits...well, that won't work. The Air Race Nazis have too much fun tying piano wire from propeller blades across the access ways in the Pits...

So, give me some time. I'm working on it. Trying to find you some alternative Sports and Motorsports where cheaters never prosper, where politics are "out the door," where piston engines ring, even if they are "Briggs & Stratton," and where people don't have to risk their lives or their planes to satisfy Mike Houghton before paying him for nothing.

Bowling! They Bowl in Reno!

...now, do you fit a piston engine to those things, or a radial, or better yet, a rotary engine?

I don't know...let me think about that one, too.

This is a work in progress...enjoy...consider the little sidebars on how the purse is $1,001,000.00, but the Ticket Sales prospects for 2007 alone indicate potential revenue of up to $31,500,000.00, if someone would just get Public Radio to put a PSA out there for Air Racing in the Northern California communities of San Francisco, San Jose, Silicon Valley and Sacramento!

Then, Herr Houghton, Mob Boss wannabe, the "Godfather of Stole," sitting there in his office while Birch Entriken, Mike Jones and Blayne Slagar take turns kissing his ring (among other things), while he treats good men and women like filth, might actually do something that help the Air Races to make a profit.

You know...like that $100 million per year business Jim Campbell says Houghton created for United Airlines! LOL!!!

No, I KID YOU NOT! <G> Check out Houghton's Bio at RRL!

Yeah, you folks in Reno have a real Peter Uberoth going for you there!

Otherwise, if I were you in Air Racing, I'd either get control of RARA by organizing Classes into one enormous Air Racing Organization, and tell Mr. Houghton where he can stick his "Unanticipated Expenses" fund, or just roll up your sleeves and clean house on RARA yourselves the "Old Fashioned Way," because if you don't and soon...

...You're not even going to have a Dog & Pony Show to "show" up to. And the way things are going, Houghton will probably walk away owning your airplanes, the rights to your first born male child and your family jewels to boot!

Ask Entriken, Jones and Slagar...he's already got them by their "fine hairs." All of you are next.

Or, you can:

STRIKE!

Haven't you People Taken Enough RUBBISH off Mike Houghton and his Goons to Last You A Lifetime YET!?

Being a "National Champion" at Mike Houghton's Air Race doesn't make you a hero, let alone, a Champion, or even a man.

Looking out for your friends does...

...just like most of you do when your brothers and sisters are out there on the course!

Caring about your brothers and sisters while they're sucking up or getting dressed down in Houghton's office and standing up for what's right, makes you a man, a hero, a Champion, in ways a Finish Line and a "Gelden Calf" of a Trophy can't!

In the meantime, look around and tell me ( bearzbearzbearz@yahoo.com )...

...whom among you are going to be the final, National Champions of Air Racing on Earth, even though they're fake and the glory is in a "Trademarked" title, not in your souls.

Who among you wants to finish last being first!!?? <G>

Who among you wants to be first in Mike Houghton's eyes?

Sagar, Entriken, Jones...duke it out amongst yourselves...Air Racing already knows about the three of you! :>(

Go ahead! The rest of you!

Raise your hands so Mikey Hitler can see them!

You know..Zieg Heil! <G>

~ INTRODUCTION ~

The Facts ~ Part I:

2007 "National Championship 'Invitational' Air Races" Rules of Competition

B. Participation in the National Championship Air Races is an invitational event and is
open to qualified pilots and aircraft meeting the eligibility qualification requirements of
these rules and those of the classes
invited to participate.

C. The Reno Air Racing Association recognizes existing class rules of qualification and
eligibility for all racing classes.
However, you need not be a member of any racing
class organization to compete at Reno.

~ RARA

The Facts ~ Part II

Purse of the 2007

"National Championship 'Invitational' Air Races"
Stead Airport, Near Reno, Nevada

@ $1,001,000.00 (U.S.) *

* Divided by 157 Pilots, Inequitably...

= $6,375.80

Per Pilot For Risking Their Lives and Aircraft,
Value of Pilot Beyond Estate: Priceless

Value of Unlimited Racing Aircraft (Aircraft Considered to Have Greatest Value in Air Racing), With Some Being Historic, One of a Kind, Irreplaceable:

$500,000 to $2,000,000

Remembering of course, that not all Classes are Equal.
Lion's Share Goes to the Unlimiteds. These figures only
involve pilot. Value goes spiraling down when you include
Crew and Team Owner shares. Most are not only working
for free, but paying greedy RARA to race and collecting
nothing of monetary value for their efforts. RARA has also
made demands that the racers and racing classes turn over
Sponsors, leaving them wanting for further funding from
outside advertisers, which should be theirs to run their teams
with.

2007 Note:

IF1 Class Penalized by RARA which has misappropriated $20,000
from that purse, giving $10,000.00 to the less competitive Sport
Biplane Class,
and another $10,000 to themselves and their dubious
"Unanticipated Expenses Fund."

No other Classes at the Event so Penalized, especially for the
"Unanticipated Expenses Fund," which could have and should have
been divided equally...if it were legal in the first place.

At this point in time, IF1 pilots can
barely afford the trip to Reno, if at all, and a number of East Coast
pilots are eliminated, resulting in fixed races. Either "Dis-invitation" or
Financial Hardship eliminating potential competitors.

IF1 is not the only Class suffering as the Same "travel issue" is true of all
other Classes, Midwest and East Coast based racers being discriminated
against in favor of West Coast racers who have far less distance to travel.

This is therefore not a "True" National Championship caliber event. It's not even
a "Real" Air Race due to the Fixed, Invitational and Entertainment changes in the event,
along with imposition of unconscienable Rules and Standards, plus Racketeering
activities directed against the racers, along with Fraud directed against the People and an attempt to Monopolize Air Racing to the Sport's detriment.

If Houghton and RARA advertised in neighboring States, such as California, they could easily bring in an average of 250,000 people per ticket-paying day for every day of the event, Wednesday through Sunday at present. This is just ticket prices alone. However, Houghton and RARA only advertise in the Reno area and not in outlying metropolitan areas, such as the Silicon Valley, San Jose, San Francisco and Sacramento, just to name a region in Northern California. As they are a 503c Non-profit, they are entitled to Public Service Announcements (PSAs). The math below is approximate in that, we are denied access to the Public Record by the Mobster Houghton at RARA and will have to access IRS Form 990 via FOIA to the IRS:

In ticket sales alone, with a little Public Service Announcement assist from Public Radio, Houghton and RARA could easily bring in $31,500,000.00, over the same period, if they aren't already. The community, sponsors and NON-sponsors alike, are receiving anywhere from $50 to $65 million annually, a portion of which could be drawn from for purse. "Feed the Kitty," per se.

The purse for the racers is $1,001,000.00...divided up by 157 Teams with the Lion's share going to the Unlimiteds, and if you give up your sponsors, they might give you a little more.

A $1,001,000.00 Purse in contrast to $31,500,000.00 in Ticket Sales Intake alone, not including Sponsorship moneys, Advertising Sales, Vendors, Pit Passes, entry fees, fines, etc., etc., etc...

And Air Racing wonders why it's going broke!?

Someone's pockets are getting lined...

...can anyone show me $30,000,000.00 in expenses for an Annual, one time, event? However, that's the figures RARA presents as far as ticket costs, and the event at low tide averages 250,000 people, according to various sources.

"Don't be a Rube, Boy!"

We're seeking the IRS Form 990s that we've been denied since 2004...and we'll get back to you, our readers, once we learn more. Get you figures that are a little more...oh, Exact! <G>

Frankly, we're going after ALL their tax records.

Something's rotten in Denmark...

...'cause Joey Scolari's in the Deli cutting the cheese and Houghton's liking it!

Anything Houghton likes has got to be rotten.
